Getting Ready for my Dubai Holiday: Holiday Prep Tips & Tricks

Feb 06, 2018

OMG! I’ve just looked at the calendar and realised that I have only 14 days left to get ready for my winter holiday! Where did the time go?

I thought I had at least a month to get myself organised, so now it’s panic stations over here! So much to do...

I love holidays, but I can be a bit of a last minute chick and I’ve been known to spend all night last-minute packing before an early flight, only to feel tired, grouchy and anxious the next day.

That’s why I’m determined to get organised before I go on holiday this winter to cut the stress, get present and feel relaxed, instead of impatient and anxious. Whether or not it will actually happen is another thing, but well..at least I tried, right? :)

To help me get in all together beforehand, I’ve put together a holiday prep list that will help me calmly prepare for my holiday and get really excited about my trip! Here it is for your reading pleasure.

1. Eat well and do a cleanse

I’ve been feeling a bit sluggish lately but I want to be extra energetic when I head on my hols. That’s why I’ll be paying my diet extra-special attention before I go.

In the next two weeks, I’ll stick to just chicken and fish to help minimise the bloat, maximise my energy and help me feel great in my bikini. I’ll also include plenty lighter, plant-based foods that will minimise the bloat but maximize nutrition, such as fresh salads, warming soups, and easy smoothies and juices.

I’ll also be doing a short 3-Day Cleanse before I go that will help kick-start my metabolism and get me feeling amazing. During my holiday prep time and whilst I’m on my holiday, I’ll also be using my fab food diary to help me keep track of what I’m eating whilst I’m away so I keep feeling great. (Want one? 2. Give that skin some TLC

After all these winter months wrapped up in jumpers and jeans, I want to give my skin some extra love before I bare all on the beach.

Enter every girl’s best friend- exfoliation!

I’ll be exfoliating every 3-4 days to get my skin in tip-top condition. I’m conscious of what I’m putting on my skin, so I’ll also use lots of lovely homemade cosmetics to give my skin that glow, or I’ll opt for my favourite brand, Elemis.

Lastly, a mani and a pedi is an absolute MUST for me. How about you?

3. Pack those supplements

Just because I’m going on holiday, doesn’t mean that I can just forget about maintaining a healthy body. That’s why I’ll definitely be taking my supplements with me in my travel bag. Probiotics and digestive enzymes always a good idea, especially when travelling as they can help keep digestive issues or tummy problems at bay.

I also include chlorella (to detox) and also a high-quality vitamin which contains plenty of vitamin C and D for energy.

4. Up that water intake

All that flying can be incredibly dehydrating, especially when you’re going further afield than Europe. Teamed with the higher, drier temperatures I’ll be enjoying in Dubai, this means I’ll most definitely need to pay attention to my water intakes.

I’ll be aiming for 2 ½ -3 litres of water per day and also making sure I take a refillable bottle with me on the plane. (If you do the same, make sure you empty it before going through airport security and refill on the other side).

This will also help with detoxification before I travel, and keep the bloat at a minimum.

5. Keep exercising

It should be no surprise that I LOVE my Barre and Pilates workouts. That’s why I’ll keep exercising before I go on holiday, and then continue to exercise whilst I’m there. This will keep me toned all over my body, full of energy and absolutely raring to go!

I’ll be doing around 20-30 minutes per day, combining elements of Barre and Pilates to help me feel at my best. This will include moves likes wide leg plies, side leg lifts, leg raises, and weighted arm and balance work.

(Want to join me for my Barre or Pilates classes before I go? Find out when they happen by clicking the links.)

6. Don’t forget the great reading material!

A holiday wouldn’t really be a holiday if you didn’t have something decent to read, would it? That means I’ll be packing a great book in my bag and listening to Audible so I can max out my relaxation time.

I’ll also pop a copy of my Eliminate the Sugar eBook into my bag so I can use it as a reference and remember to keep my sugar intake low whilst I’m travelling.

So fingers crossed that this holiday prep list will help me relax and look forward to my well-deserved holiday, instead of running around like a headless chicken the night before! Wish me luck!
