What is Body Control Pilates?

By working on the deep architectural structure of the body, 'core stability' is achieved, and then maintained, through increasingly complex movement sequences. Specific problem areas can be targeted by an exercise, but always in relation to the rest of one's body.

Your body awareness is heightened by bringing together mind and body - Pilates teaches you to be in control of your body, allowing you to handle stress more effectively and achieve relaxation more easily.

,p> The Body Control Pilates Method can work for everyone, regardless of fitness level! Exercises can be mat or machine-based, but matwork exercises have a great attraction in that they need no special equipment, and are particularly safe for those with back problems (and don't forget that 95% of the UK population has, or has had, backache). Its consistent success rate in solving such problems has brought it to the attention of osteopaths, chiropractors, physiotherapists and homeopathic doctors

Types of Classes

Beginners Pilates Classes

These classes are designed for clients that are new to Pilates or for those who have had a break from their Pilates practice. 

Within the Beginners class you will be taught the fundamentals of Pilates and be taken through different exercises in a variety of positions. We will also concentrate on recruiting the correct muscle and joint movement to minimise injury from occurring. You will be instructed at a slower pace to ensure you get a clear understanding of the required movement patterns.

Once you feel comfortable with the beginner exercises and are ready to progress you will have the option to move into an Improver class.

Improver Pilates Classes

Based on the fundamentals and movement patterns you have learnt from the Beginner classes attended, the Improver classes will move you to the next level of exercises. We will continue to focus on the technical aspect, progressing onto more challenging exercises once you are able to perform the previous level provided.

The great thing about Body Control Pilates is the vast amount of variations and levels that are provided to guide the client into progressing at their own pace.

Private Pilates Classes

Private sessions are a great introduction to Pilates if you are a novice and would like to get hands-on experience before joining a group session or quite frankly group sessions may not be for you! I would also highly recommend 1:1’s to those who have had injuries. We will take the sessions at your own pace to enable you to work on specified areas to try to strengthen and alleviate existing pain.

Mondays 20.15-21.15

Wednesday 19.00-20.00

Classes are kept small (12 maximum) so attention, focus and care can be provided to each client.

Greenford Park Resident Association Hall, 18 Queens Avenue, Greenford UB6 9BX

All required equipment supplied.

Pre and Postnatal, 1:1 and small group sessions are available upon request.

If you are Pregnant or Postnatal, please advise when making an inquiry and you will be sent a specific enrolment form to complete.

Prior to beginning group sessions it is highly recommended that you complete a 1:1 assessment. This will give us the opportunity to talk through the Pilates fundamentals, discuss aims, objectives, assess current postural alignment, core stability and your previous experience of Pilates.

Please note: 24-hour notice is required to cancel your session without incurring a charge. If this notification is provided you will be able to make up your session within the validity period of your class block. Prior to commencing classes, it is advisable to consult your doctor if you have medical conditions, are pregnant or are over the age of 65. By taking part in physical exercise you are accepting responsibility for your own health and omitting any responsibility for any injury or wellbeing issues from the instructor. All sessions must be paid for in advance.
